Ann, is a bilingual-binational North American who had been living in France for over 45 years. She left city life to settle in what seemed to be a lovely countryside only a two hour drive from Paris.
Between castles and vineyards is a community populated by credulous and introverted peasants, witches, proud boys and goats all attached to their traditions and county, repudiating all whom they consider should be rejected.
Ann brings to light the ordinary, everyday racism and wacky beliefs of rustic hicks through historical facts, practices, culture, politics, sex, religion, murder, rascals and neighbourly hoods through a rich vocabulary of synonyms, homonyms and anagrams.
The Chick in the recipe can be replaced by any cluck, turkey, pigeon or any other fowl.
